Chair of Molecular Technology

The Department of Organic Chemistry, formerly known as Institute of Organic Chemistry, is, as it has been for a long time, one of the most prolific and dynamic among Chemistry Departments of the Faculty of Science and Technology. Currently headed by the academic of the Estonian Academy of Sciences, professor Jaak Järv, it continues long-standing tradition of being at the cutting-edge of science. The key words for the Department of Organic Chemistry, as for modern science in general, are “cooperation & synergy”.

Chair of Bioorganic Chemistry

Fields of research Since 1990-s in the Chair of Inorganic Chemistry the investigations of processes of electrochemical synthesis of polypyrrole (PPy) thin films are going on. Polypyrrole, one of the most important conducting polymers, has been deposited on noble metal electrodes and their properties have been comprehensively studied.

Chair of Analytical Chemistry

In terms of teacher training, the staff of the Chair is responsible for specialised didactics ( ICT in Chemical Education, Chemistry Didactics and Practical Works in Didactics of Chemistry), coordination of teaching practice at schools and supervision of Masters theses.
