Idea Lab season launched by interaction designer from Google and Microsoft

The Idea Lab starts their autumn season and invites students from all specialisations to the workshop “Kick-off Ideation” on Friday, 9 October at 16:00 (at Narva mnt 4) where Amid Moradganjeh, interaction designer with international experience, will give advice on how to recognise ideas with potential and how to find suitable team members.

By today, Amid has established his own design company Square Mountains. His work experience at Google, IDEO, Microsoft and elsewhere has given him a strong basis for it. Square Mountains focuses on innovation and creating new solutions through design thinking.

But what does an interaction designer do? Here are seven important things to understand about interaction design which for Amid are essential parts of a work process and which should be the basis for all ideas.

What is the Idea Lab?

According to Head of the Idea Lab Maret Ahonen, the aim is to be a pre-incubator for entrepreneurial students and youth in South-Estonia. For the most part it means seminars about enterprising and mentoring for teams who have joined the lab. “All teams who have registered at the Idea Lab will be assigned a supervisor who helps them evolve more efficiently. The result of the cooperation is a clear understanding of the value and profit model of their idea,” said Ahonen.

Last spring there were nearly 300 entrepreneurial youth at the Idea Lab. The students who started there can now be met in the world of enterprising as well as Garage48 events and the Startup Estonia’s development programme for students Student VC.

Starting from the end of October, Idea Lab seminars will take place every two weeks on Thursdays. The rooms and sauna of the Idea Lab will be open until the late hours so that the teams could socialise with each other and the mentors and start-up representatives also after the seminars in an informal atmosphere.
